Cascada (pronounced /kəˈskɑːdə/) is a German eurodance/electro/pop group formed in 2004. The group consists of Anglo German born singer Natalie Horler who provides vocals for the group, and DJ Manian and Yanou who provide writing and production for the group. Cascada's success has mostly been shown in their debut single "Everytime We Touch" which topped the global charts in 2006 charting in the top ten of United Kingdom, United States, Germany, France, Ireland and many more[citation needed]. The song also became the best selling dance song of 2006 and broke records in Sweden. Their next global hit single was "What Hurts the Most" which topped the charts in 2007 and held Cascada's reign as one of the best selling dance superstars. And most recently "Evacuate The Dancefloor" which kept Michael Jackson from the number one spot in the UK charts after his death and topped the global charts in 2009. Other well known Cascada hits include UK top tens hits "Miracle" and "Truly Madly Deeply", Patti Smith cover "Because The Night, and international hits "Fever" and "Pyromania". So far Cascada have sold an estimated 15 million albums and 35 million singles worldwide, their three albums Everytime We Touch, Perfect Day and Evacuate The Dancefloor helping them become the second most downloaded dance artist of all time. Awards won by Cascada include "Best Selling German Act" in 2006 at the World Music Awards and "Best Female Act" at Germanys Comet Awards. Cascada have also been nominated for "Best Dance Video" at the MTV Video Music Awards and "Worlds Best Selling Female Pop Artist" again at the World Music Awards in 2006. Cascada was also originally founded as "Cascade", but the name had to be changed due to trademark conflict with the musician Kaskade.[citation needed]
